Study Title: Sexual Fantasy Survey
Study Purpose and Rationale: The purpose of this study is to gain better insight into the nature and origin of our sexual fantasies.
Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria: To be eligible to participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years of age.
Participation Procedures and Duration: If you decide to participate, you will be asked to complete a survey that includes questions about your sexual fantasies, as well as your personality, sexual history, and attitudes. For most people, this survey will take less than 30 minutes to complete.
Data Confidentiality or Anonymity: All data will be collected anonymously. You will not be asked to provide personally identifying information and we will not collect IP addresses or any other information that could potentially be used to identify you.
Storage of Data: All data collected through this study will be stored indefinitely in order to allow for future review and re-analysis. The final data (which are anonymous and cannot be traced back to specific individuals) will initially be held in a secure database or on secure devices accessible only by the principal investigator. In accordance with contemporary journal publication standards, however, final data may eventually be deposited in a public repository.
Risks or Discomforts: The only anticipated risk from participating in this study is that you may not feel comfortable answering some of the questions. You may choose not to answer any question that makes you uncomfortable and you may quit the study at any time.
Benefits: You will have the opportunity to help enhance our scientific understanding of sexual fantasies. You will also have an opportunity to reflect upon your own fantasies.
Voluntary Participation: Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and you are free to withdraw your permission at anytime for any reason, or choose not to answer any question without penalty or prejudice from the investigators. Please feel free to ask any questions of the investigator before signing this form and at any time during the study.
